Description
This species is remarkably similar in appearance to the well-known green roof star Sedum kamtschaticum, having nearly identical foliage, flower color & bloomtime, and drought tolerance. However, Sedum takesimensis holds its leaves much later into the winter season, dropping them very late, and new leaves emerge much earlier than S. kamtschaticum. Green basal rosettes persist throughout the winter months. In mild winters or in protected spots the plant may retain its foliage nearly until spring. This species has a dense mounding form that fills in quickly. A good choice for green roofs where rapid coverage is important, this is a hardy and dependable green roof plant. Also an excellent choice for planting on a wall. Will tolerate some shade.
