Description
The main attractive feature of this plant is year-round blue-green foliage. Needle-like leaves give the plant the appearance of a tiny conifer tree. Foliage during the early spring and fall is blue-gray, becoming blue-green in the summer. The leaves take on purple to pink tones in the late fall and through the winter. Yellow flowers appear on tall stalks in midsummer and put on quite a show, contrasting well with the leaves. This plant is nearly identical in appearance to the often used Sedum reflexum 'Blue Spruce', but S. montanum is more reliably hardy and better tolerates summer heat. Its foliage tends to be slightly more blue in color. An excellent choice for blue foliage and year-round interest.
