Description
This graceful grass has fine green foliage that looks great any time of the growing season. Large stalks of tan flowers are held well above the slender leaves in a showy display, especially in early morning or late evening sunlight. Turns a stunning orange foliage in Fall. This species produces viable seed and is therefore best used on a large scale where self-sowing is an advantage. Native to the Great Plains of the US this grass is also found West of the Mississippi River and East of the Rockies. As with most grasses on green roofs, this plant will benefit from a deeper soil profile or mounded green roof media, as well as regular watering to help become established. Adds more height than other plants to the green roof ecosystem creating the opportunity for greater biodiversity. Tolerates some shade. This is a custom order plant.
