Accent Plants

These plants can be used to add color, texture, height, extend flowering season, and to attract additional pollinators. They are most effectively used with a base of sedum to create the main cover for the green roof.

  • Achillea millefolium
    Our native Achillea is white-flowered, unlike the more common garden yellow varieties. It is a great pollinator attractant and works as an accent plant within a base of succulent ground cover plants. 
  • Allium ‘Summer Beauty’
    A beautiful Allium variety with strong upright foliage showcasing vibrant green color and thicker leaves. Masses of light pink flowers.
  • Allium cernuum
    Reliable North American native with a nodding flower habit. Tolerates some shade.
  • Allium Mix
    A mix of our Allium bare root bulbs, available, at time of installation.
  • Allium schoenoprasum
    A strong performer on a green roof. Extremely drought tolerant. Creates a good visual accent and has culinary use as well. Tolerates some shade.
  • Allium schoenoprasum ‘Alba’
    A white-flowering form of Allium schoenoprasum. Blue-green foliage. Tolerates some shade.
  • Allium schoenoprasum ‘Forescate’
    A slightly taller, summer-blooming variety. More brilliant foliage and flower colors than the straight species.
  • Allium schoenoprasum var. sibericum ‘Pink Giant’
    A taller variety with outstanding pink flowers.
  • Allium senescens ssp. montanum
    An Allium variety featuring strong upright green foliage. Pink to white buds open to pink to lavender flowers. Later blooming. Green winter foliage.
  • Allium senescens ssp. montanum var. glaucum
    Interesting foliage plant adds texture to a green roof with spiraling blue-green leaves. Flowers give much-needed color later in the season. Tolerates some shade.
